Why We Started Puget Homelabs
We've been where you are. Spending weekends running cables through attics, crimping our own RJ45 connectors, and watching YouTube tutorials on proper cable management. We've made every mistake in the book so you don't have to.
Puget Homelabs was born from a simple frustration: traditional low voltage contractors don't understand what homelabbers actually need. They'll run CAT5e when you want CAT6A. They'll daisy-chain your drops instead of running homeruns. They don't care about your patch panel layout or labeling scheme.
We're different because we are you. We run homelabs ourselves. We understand why you need 10Gbps to your office, why you want a dedicated VLAN for IoT devices, and why proper cable management isn't optional.
Our Approach
Every project starts with understanding your goals. Are you building a Proxmox cluster with Ceph storage? Running Plex and the *arr stack? Self-hosting Nextcloud, Home Assistant, and a dozen Docker containers? Your infrastructure needs depend on your use case, and we design accordingly.
We use LIDAR scanning because Seattle is full of beautiful historical homes that deserve modern infrastructure without destruction. Our scans create Revit models that reveal hidden routing channels - forgotten chases, wall cavities, and pathways that builders left behind decades ago. This lets us run cables through your Craftsman bungalow or Tudor revival with minimal cuts and patches.
And when we're done, you get a Revit model of your home's surfaces with all cable routes documented, plus Fluke test results for every termination. When you sell your home or need to add infrastructure later, you'll have complete records of what's in your walls.
